Central African Republic - The falls of the Mbi

The river "la Mbi" has its source in the sandstone plateau of Gadzi-Carnot west of Yaloké. This river is an upper tributary of the Mpoko flowing parallel with Mbali and Pama and entering the Ubangi basin. The flow of the Mbi is initially slow on the sandstone of Carnot, then meets the quartzitic bars of Boali around Bodanga village where its slope reaches 10 m high. The origin of these falls is structural because the Mbi deeply cuts the Central African surface (dorsal) by creating a gorge. It is in this gorge that the river falls to 200m on a front of 70m located just after the bridge at PK 153. Its slope is 4.5 m / km.
