Bangladesh - Jaggadala Vihara

"An extensive mound, 105 metres long by 85 metres, which represents the archaeological remains of a Buddhist monastery associated with the existing World Heritage Site of Paharpur, to which is proposed to be added as an additional Monument Zone as part of a serial nomination. Finds have included terracotta plaques, ornamental bricks, nails, a gold ingot and three stone images of deities."

Jagoddal Bihara, Naogaon 1082-1124 AD, Bangladesh. Thanks to Foysal of Dhaka, Bangladesh. 4 beautiful stamps used. Mailed in May 2021 and arrived in Penang Island on July 5, 2021.

Bangladesh - The Lalmai-Mainamati Group of monuments

"Some fifty archaeological sites have been identified on an area of elevated land 18km long and 4,5km wide, representing a major religious and political centre without parallel in the sub -continent. It appears to have been the religious centre from which Buddhism was spread to South East Asia."

Shalbon Bihara in Comilla of 7th Century AD is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List of Lalmai-Mainamati Buddhist monuments. Thanks to Foysal of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Postmarked June 2021 and arrived in Penang island on June 29, 2021.



Bangladesh - Lalbagh Fort

"A palace fortress constructed by Prince Muhammed Azam, third son of Moghul Emperor Aurangzeb, 1678-9. Continued by the next viceroy, Shaista Khan, its building stopped after the death of his daughter, Iran Dukht, whose tomb is one of the monuments on the site, which also includes an audience hall with attached hammam, a mosque, etc."
