Djibouti - Day Forest National Park

The Day Forest National Park is located 30 km west of the Gulf of Tadjourah. It includes the Goda massif whose summit is located at 1,782m above sea level and which includes the remnant of a primary forest, that of Day. This property contracted at the rate of terrestrial warming of the quaternary area. Indeed, pastoral fires in the 18th century and the volcanic eruption of 1862 reduced its area. It has grown from an area of about 7,500 ha, a little more than 200 years ago, to 1,500 ha in 1984 and less than 900 ha today. It is the only forest of Djibouti.
