"Lac Rose or Lake Retba is about 35 km north-north-east of Dakar, Senegal's capital. It is a real natural curiosity with its exceptional color who saw water daily from purple to pink scarlet. Covering an area of about 3 km2, is divided into four sections called adjacent Khaar Yaala, Khosss, Virage and Daradji. On a maximum depth of 3 m it contains a significant amount of salt that is from the 1970s, operated and exported throughout the region. Lake Rose, point of the famous Paris-Dakar Rally, is also the most nominated site of Senegal, surpassing even the famous island of Gorée, a World Heritage City. Consultation on Google shows 1,740,000 citations to Lac Rose, against 702,000 for the Gorée dated 10 October 2005."

Le Lac Rose, Senegal. What a beautiful pinkish postcard. Thanks to Marie of France who have visited and "floated" in this lake!
