Burundi - Ruvubu National Park

Extending over four provinces and eight municipalities, the Ruvubu National Park was established in 1980 by Decree-Law No. 1/6 of 3 March 1980 on the advice of a MAB (UNESCO) recommendation. It covers an area of ​​50,800 ha and stretches for 62 km in its main axis and on a width varying between 5 and 13 km. It is located in the lower valley of the Ruvubu River, which drains almost a third of Burundi's surface and is the southernmost tributary of the Nile basin. This park is a 75% tree and shrub savanna, 15% woodland, 8% grassland and 2% forest galleries.
