The contents of the properties included in the proposed declaration (Plasencia-Monfragüe-Trujillo: Mediterranean Landscape) are of a distinct cultural, natural and cultural heritage, in accordance with the definitions set out in Articles 1 and 2 of the World Heritage Convention concerning the cultural and natural heritage.
The heritage complex of the proposed Landscape is not a serial heritage, but it is based on three fundamental pillars, among others. Plasencia and Trujillo are two historical complexes, declared as Cultural Heritage Properties, with historical, urban, architectural and heritage prestige recognized in the Extremadura Region and with obvious historical, national, European and Latin American influences.
The Monfragüe National Park is a singular, unique, broad and representative example of an extraordinary surrounding ecosystem within the Spanish, Peninsular, Mediterranean and European natural heritage; it has a geomorphological interest, a plant biodiversity, a fauna rich in endemic, unique and endangered species, centuries-old customs of manipulation of the territory and forms of life charged with signs of identity of an ancestral cultural heritage, bringing together natural heritage and cultural heritage in a spectacular and exceptional landscape.
