Niger - Plateau and Fortin of Djado

The Djado site is a very ancient fortified complex, located in one of the most inaccessible mountainous and plateau regions of the central Sahara. The interest of this area is well known to archaeologists who have highlighted many lithic rock sites and ruins of ancient cities. Ecologically, the site is an example of a hyper-arid ecosystem in which large ungulates such as mouflons and gazelles remain. The Djado is also a corridor of migration of addax between Algeria and Chad lives Niger. As such, it constitutes an important corridor for biodiversity.
