Niger - Palace of Zarmakoye of Dosso
The palace of Dosso Provincial Head was built in 1904, shortly after the accession of Zarmakoye Abdou Augusta to the throne. The reign of Zarrmakoye began in the 15th century when Boukar son of Tagur Gana settled in the Zigui. It was in 1902, under the Zermakoye Augusta that Dosso was erected in province like Maradi. From this period, there were in total 8 Zarmakoye who are:
Zarmakoye Augusta from 1902 to 1913,
Zarmakoye Moussa from 1913 to 1924,
Zarmakoye Saidou from 1924 to 1938,
Zarmakoye Moumouni from 1938 to 1953,
Zarmakoye Hamani from 1953 to 1962,
Zarmakoye Abdou from 1962 to 1998,
Zarmakoye Issoufou from 1998 to 2000,
Zarmakoye Maidanda from 2000 to the present day
The 7 Zarmakoye disappeared all rest in the enclosure of the palace where a cemetery was arranged to shelter their tombs as well as those of all the others which will disappear.
The palace is an imposing building in good condition surrounded by a wall.
There is also an old well called Dey Zarmakoye which means the well of the Zarmakoye and which is in the courtyard of the women of the palace.
