Niger - Massif of Ternit
The area of the Termit massif has a sub-desert to desert climate. Such climates are characterized by two seasons marked by: the dry season from November to May and the rainy season from June to September.
This is how the territory of the Termit massif receives less than 100 mm of rain per year. This rainfall is therefore characterized by a strong spatial but above all temporal variability.
The maximum temperatures are 38 ° C (May) while the minimum is 23 ° C in June in Gouré.
The main soil formations from South to North are:
- the old ergs of transversal dunes of the middle quaternary (clay and silt);
- rectilinear longitudinal dune ergs;
- live sands deposited in straight dunes;
- an association of old ergs and dune ergs in the North.
- Continental formations consisting of clay sandstone (rock mass);
- Quaternary sandy alluvium at the Dillia (dry valley).
