The Dakhla National Park covers an area of 14160 km2, which occupies 1/10 of that of the Oued Eddahab province in the far south of the country. It is famous for its wealth of plant communities and fauna specific to prearide climate zones. Its coast, including the peninsula of Cap Blanc-Aguerguer, is known for its monk seal monachus monachus population. It alone justifies its ranking in the national park.
