Comoros - Historical Sultanates of Comoros

Archaeological data date back to the 8th century when the Comoros populated by humans from the eastern coast of Africa. However, the story remains poorly known until the thirteenth century, when shirazi, probably from Kilwa, allied themselves with the natives through weddings and found clans of sultanates and dominated the traditional chiefdoms. The Comorian real estate cultural heritage consists mainly of archaeological sites of the thirteenth and sixteenth century, for the most famous, royal palaces, religious buildings, fortifications and public places. The latter, although they also exist in Anjouan, differ in their architectural design from those of Ngazidja, which access is through two monumental doors in masonry, decorated with symbols. Iconi and Itsandra Mdjini are the cities that hold the most bangwe and monumental gates.
