"The Natural Park of Cova, Paúl and Ribeira da Torre (PNCPRT) is located on the north side of the island of Santo Antão, more precisely in the north-east, in a crossroads area of the three municipalities, including: Porto Novo 15 , 1% (316 ha), Paúl 42.6% (891 ha) and Ribeira Grande 42.3% (885 ha).
The minimum altitude in the park is about 400 meters in the area of Xoxô and the maximum altitude corresponds to Pico da Cruz, with 1585 meters. The park is dominated in the highest areas (above 1000m) by a volcanic crater (Cova), by forest areas of Pinus, Eucalyptus and Grevillea, by peaks and steep areas and by cliffs that end in deep valleys overlooking the sea (Ribeira da Torre and Paúl). The existing microclimate at the site presents a combination of factors such as altitude, exposure of slopes or slopes, and hidden precipitation that promotes the development of various plants with a focus on native vegetation and agricultural practice."
