Tunisia - Bouhedma National Park

Bouhedma National Park is located in the governorates of Sidi Bouzid and Gafsa. It is located 85 km east of Gafsa, 100 km south of Sidi Bouzid, 105 km west of Sfax, 100 km north-west of Gabes, 30 km from Maknassy and 27 km south of Sidi Bouzid. km from Mezzouna. It was created in 1980 and covers an area of ​​16488 hectares of which 8804 are under full protection. The park has been part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserves network since 1977. The park has three full defensive zones. It also includes a 2400-hectare temporary occupation area with about 200 families and a buffer zone between the temporary occupation zone and the full protection zones. The park extends in the lower arid bioclimates to temperate and cool variant, until in the lower semi-arid to fresh variant. Rainfall can be estimated at 140 mm in the plain and 300 mm at the top of the Jebel.
