Lebanon - Monument: Temple of Echmoun

It is a monumental ensemble destined for the cult of Echmoun, the revered healing god of Saida during the Phoenician Epoch. The site has undergone many changes and additions between the end of the 7th century BC. until VII - VIIIth century AD In view of the great wealth of the sculptures and mosaics found there, it seems that the site has been the subject of great devotion during this long period. The almost uninterrupted occupation of the site for centuries and the various transformations it has undergone demonstrate that it was closely linked to the life of the city of Saïda.
