Tunisia - The Jugurtha Table in Kalaat-Senen

"EL GALA'A" (Kalaat-Senen) commonly referred to in contemporary times as the "Table of Jugurtha" named after the Numidian King Jugurtha who sheltered on the terrace of the Table as a resistance to the Roman General Marius during a battle that was decisive in the history of North Africa and the Roman Empire (107-105 BC). It dominates the plains of subsidence that constituted the historical center of Numidia. The property consists of a perched synclinal massif that looks like a limestone slab, with rough walls over 50 meters high and its piedmont. The area of the terrace is about 82 hectares with a circumference of 4000 meters. Its inverted relief gives it a majestic and imposing appearance At its feet extends a piedmont rich in terms of human occupation extending over several kilometers on both sides.
